The Missouri Baptist University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Illinois College Jim Green Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 8), while senior track star
Mia Duncan raced to hit an NAIA 'B' standard at the Steve Miller Invitational, hosted by Kansas State University (Feb. 7).
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Duncan flew solo on Friday (Feb. 7) at the Steve Miller Invitational. She ran in the 1000 m, finishing in third place with a time of 2:58.62 and hitting the national qualifying standard.
She was just about two seconds off from hitting the NAIA 'A' standard in the event.
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – At the IC Jim Green Invitational, the Spartans dominated in certain events, especially in the 4 x 400 relay.
Angela Ward,
Adrienne Rockette,
Julia Whorton, and
Lizzie Burgan are part of the women's 4 x 400 relay team. Finishing with a time of 4:34.55, they placed third overall.
The men's 4 x 400 relay team consists of underclassmen
Alex Shields,
Alvin Wible,
Brandon Etheridge, and
Sam Bland. They finished in fourth place out of 14 with a time of 3:34.66.
Grant Patten earned sixth place (4:31.05), and
Brandon Etheridge earned seventh (4:31.95) in the men's mile. They out-ran 49 other competitors in this event.
On the women's side,
Julia Whorton finished with a time of 5:39.83, putting her at fifth place out of 28.
Angela Ward (2.26.01) displayed an excellent performance in the women's 800 m, finishing in second place out of 22.
Freshman Jayden Roling placed eighth out of 36 in the men's shot put; he hit 13.92 m.
