COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 19 Missouri Baptist University baseball split a doubleheader with Columbia College on Saturday to remain tied atop the American Midwest Conference baseball standings with a 12-4 record. MBU lost the first game 8-5 after a late-inning comeback ran out of steam and followed up with an 11-3 win behind a complete game from starting pitcher
Teague Robertson.

Carter Sabol set the Cougars down in order in the first inning but gave up a solo home run to Jack Matousek in the second. He allowed four more in the third on a pair of RBI singles and a wild pitch.

In the top of the fifth trailing 5-0,
Dominic Palma stepped into the box with two runners in scoring position and drove in both with a single up the middle. He moved into scoring position himself on a stolen base and came in to score on
James Jett's single.

Columbia responded with three in the bottom half of the fifth on one hit and left one on base. In the sixth, the Spartans plated two on bases-loaded walks from Jett and
Cole Robinson.

Needing three runs in the top of the seventh and final inning, MBU got a leadoff walk from
Jayden Orozco before CC reliever Grant Burson worked a strikeout and a double play to end the game.

Game Two Recap
Teague Robertson got the ball on the mound in game two and pitched a complete game victory to help the Spartans earn a series split with Columbia. He had a shutout going into the seventh inning but ended the day with three earned and eight hits allowed with six strikeouts. He improved to 4-2 on the season.

The offense backed him up from the start of the game with a solo home run from
Blayne Yarger and an RBI single from Robinson in the first. Robinson singled home another run in the third, followed later by a two-run home run by catcher
Jakob Kouneski.

Robinson made it five RBI on the day with a three-run home run to right field in the fifth. The Spartans continued to pour it on and made it 11-0 with a two-run home run off the foul pole from Jett.

In six games this week, Robinson slugged six home runs and drove in 17 runs.
