Orozco Uses Extra-Inning Home Run to Secure Split at Mission

OZARK, Mo. – No. 23 Missouri Baptist University baseball split a doubleheader with Mission University on Friday afternoon. The Spartans lost 10-8 in game one after a seventh-inning comeback fell short and used a Jayden Orozco extra-inning home run to claim a 2-1 victory.

Game One Recap
The Spartans fell 10-8 in game one after a seventh-inning comeback fell short. The Patriots got the final two outs of the inning in order after that to secure the victory.

Mission tallied two runs in the first and fourth innings and one run in the second and third to jump to a 6-5 lead. They posted four more in the sixth to add enough insurance to get them through the top of the seventh.

First baseman Cole Robinson gave MBU the lead on two separate occasions, with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first to make it 1-0 and then made it 5-4 in the top of the fourth with a two-run double. Dominic Palma also had a big game at the plate with two doubles and two runs scored.

Sam Myers got the start on the mound for the Spartans and surrendered four earned on six hits, two walks, and five strikeouts. The bullpen had a rough day as well, surrendering a combined six earned runs over three innings of work.
