ST. LOUIS - Missouri Baptist came back to win 6-5 in game one over future conference opponent No. 8 Central Methodist after falling behind by three runs due to a big fourth inning offensively, and unfortunately dropped the second game as the Eagles offense came alive.
Â
Game 1 Recap
Brooklynn Fischer cruised through the first three innings of the contest, surrendering just two baserunners, and held the high powered Eagles' offense to no runs.
Â
She proceeded to help herself out on the offensive end as she led off the bottom of the second with a walk before Allison Leigraf singled, putting a pair of Spartans on the basepaths. Camryn Kessler and Miranda Ladson drove both of them in to give Missouri Baptist a 2-0 lead after the second frame.
Â
The Eagles' bats woke up in the top of the fourth inning as they rallied off five runs on five hits only leaving one runner on base, taking a 5-2 lead over the Spartans.
Â
Missouri Baptist answered quickly as Fischer and Leigraf both hit singles and Kessler reached base on a fielder's choice. Ladson drove home Leigraf again, and Emily Wright singled to score Kessler. The Spartans were not done as Makayla Johnson came up with two runners on and two away in the inning, and launched a triple into the left field gap to score two more runs, regaining the lead for Missouri Baptist, 6-5.
Â
Fischer and the Spartans defense only allowed three more Eagles to reach base as they would go on to complete the comeback victory over the No. 8 Eagles. Fischer tallied another complete game onto her stat sheet as she struck out a batter per inning and only gave up runs in one inning.

Game 2 Recap
Missouri Baptist struggled on the field and at the plate in game two as Central Methodist hit the ball hard and were able to find gaps. The Spartans put together solid at-bats, but balls that were hit hard went right to Eagles' defenders.
Â
The Eagles put up big innings in the second and fourth innings as they scored five in each, along with one in the first and third innings.
Â
Kiera Nash and Bella Skibinski each got their first hits of their collegiate careers as they pinch hit late in the contest.
