NEVADA, MO. - Missouri Baptist kicked off the AMC portion of their schedule with a road doubleheader at Cottey College, and the Spartans took care of business with a dominant 14-2 victory in game one and kept rolling with a 10-5 win to wrap up the two game series.

Game One Recap
The Spartans took advantage of the opportunity to score first on the road as Alexi Sanchez drew a two out walk and Brooklynn Fischer blasted an opposite field two-run homerun.Â

Jacie Dees kept the offense rolling in the second inning with a solo homerun before Cottey scored a run in the bottom half of the inning.

The Spartan offense came alive in the fourth inning with 11 runs on 11 hits. Dees sent another homerun over the left field fence that scored Allison Leigraf, sparking the 11 run inning.

The offensive showcase was too much for the Comets as they would go on to score one more run, and the Spartans held on to win 14-2.

Every Spartan scored in game one of the doubleheader and almost everyone found a hit and a run batted in.

Fischer continued her success in the circle, throwing five innings and only allowing four hits.

Game Two Recap
Johnson sparked the offense with a leadoff double to kick off game two, and Jenna Achs advanced her to third with a sacrifice bunt before a wild pitch put the Spartans up 1-0.

Ladson improved Missouri Baptist's lead to 2-0 with a solo bomb down the left field line.

Taylor Whitehead cruised through the Comets' order throughout the first four innings, surrendering just four hits.

Achs, Sanchez, and Fischer led off the fifth inning by all reaching base, loading the bases for Leigraf and Dees. Both of them drove home one run in their plate appearances to put the Spartans up 4-0.

Cottey got rolling in their half of the fifth inning, placing five runs up on the scoreboard with the help of a three-run homerun.

The Spartans wasted no time getting back in the lead as Leigraf singled to score Achs, tying the game, and Dees hit her third homer of the day for a grand slam that scored Leigraf, Fischer, and Sanchez. The Spartans went back-to-back when Kessler gave the Spartans a five run lead with a solo homerun of her own.

Fischer and the Spartans' defense rolled through the Cottey lineup in the final two innings to give Missouri Baptist their second win on the day.

Scoring throughout the contest, solid defense, and resiliency propelled the Spartans to a pair of wins to jump start the AMC portion of the schedule.
