FULTON, Mo. – The Missouri Baptist University men's lacrosse team secured its second consecutive victory Saturday evening, defeating William Woods University, 13-9, behind contributions from six different goal scorers.
With the win, the Spartans improved to 2-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play, closing out a grueling five-game road stretch.
Leading the offensive charge was Matthew Lash, who tallied four goals, one assist, and six ground balls. Joe Busselman added three goals and two assists, while Caleb Tant and Raymond Lingard each found the net twice. Ryan Metcalf and Liam Prindable also contributed with one goal apiece.
The game remained tight statistically, with MBU narrowly outshooting WWU, 41-40. Both teams registered 22 shots on goal.
Despite committing 28 turnovers compared to just eight by the Owls, the Spartans overcame adversity to secure the four-goal victory.
Missouri Baptist jumped out to a 3-0 lead, fueled by three straight goals from Lash, but William Woods battled back to tie the game at 4-4 and again at 5-5. The Owls surged ahead 8-5 before the Spartans responded with six unanswered goals, reclaiming the lead at 11-8 and ultimately sealing the win at 13-9.
Up Next: The Spartans return home Wednesday for a conference matchup against Saint Ambrose University. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Spartan Field.
