No. 23 Missouri Baptist Sweeps Williams Baptist in Friday Doubleheader

ST. LOUIS – No. 23 Missouri Baptist University baseball swept Williams Baptist University in Friday's doubleheader, taking the first two games of the four-game series, which concludes Saturday.

Game One Recap

Dominic Palma led the Spartans at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double.

Missouri Baptist jumped ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning after an RBI single from Cole Robinson and a sacrifice fly from Jayden Orozco.

Palma added insurance in the fourth with an RBI double, extending the Spartans' lead to 3-0.

On the mound, Carter Sabol delivered a dominant performance, tossing a complete-game shutout. The right-hander struck out six, walked one, and allowed six hits across 93 pitches.

With the win, the Spartans improved to 21-9 overall and 16-5 in the American Midwest Conference.

Game Two Recap

Missouri Baptist wasted no time in the second game, erupting for six runs in the bottom of the first inning. The early offensive outburst was highlighted by RBI singles from Jakob Kouneski, Orozco, and Carlos Hidalgo, while three additional runs scored via wild pitches.

In the second inning, Robinson launched a solo home run off the left-field scoreboard, pushing the Spartans' lead to 7-0. MBU tacked on another run in the third via a wild pitch, cruising to an eventual 8-1 victory.

Teague Robertson got the start for Missouri Baptist, pitching 3.2 innings with three strikeouts and one walk before exiting due to injury.

Austin Szverra stepped in and delivered 3.1 strong innings of relief, striking out five and earning his first win of the season.
