ST. LOUIS– No. 19 Missouri Baptist University baseball was swept in a doubleheader by the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on Friday afternoon. The Spartans had the tying run thrown out at the plate to end the first game with a 2-1 loss before dropping game two 5-4.

Game One Recap
Barrett Lohman held the No. 19 MBU baseball lineup to no runs and three hits over six innings heading into the bottom of the seventh and final frame.
Jayden Orozco led off with a solo home run, and
Lucas Lefebvre followed up with a double. A sacrifice bunt moved the runner to third before Lohman got a fly out and a 7-2 putout to gun down the tying run at the plate to end the game.

Sam Myers received his first loss of the year after allowing two unearned runs on three hits and eight strikeouts. The lone runs came after a leadoff single in the third, a passed ball, an RBI single from Holden Campbell, and an error on a pickoff attempt.

The loss moved the Spartans to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in the American Midwest Conference.

Blayne Yarger got the offense going with one out in the top of the first inning on a solo home run to left center. Another run came home when an error and a
Cole Robinson single set the stage for a sacrifice fly from
Jakob Kouneski.

After four scoreless innings from left-handed starter
Landon Albers, the Eutectics broke through in the top of the fifth on a two-run home run from Brandon Gibbs. Campbell followed up with a single on the next pitch after the blast, ending Albers' day after 4.2 innings, 80 pitches, two earned, five hits, and five strikeouts.

MBU responded quickly with two in the bottom half of the fifth inning, but the Eutectics plated two more in the top of the sixth to tie the game at four. In the top of the seventh, a bunt single, a sacrifice bunt, a single, and an error gave UHSP a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom half.

Yarger walked to lead off the frame before UHSP reliever Gavin Long got
James Jett to line out. He then got
Cole Robinson to ground into a 6-4-3 game-ending double play to wrap up a doubleheader sweep with a 5-4 victory.
