St. Louis, Mo. – Missouri Baptist University men's lacrosse set a program record with 33 goals in a dominant 33-6 victory over Ottawa University on Senior Night at Spartan Field.
With the win, the Spartans improved to 5-7 overall, 5-3 in conference play, and 3-4 at home.
Senior Matthew Lash led the historic offensive outburst with 10 goals and four assists. Joe Busselman followed with seven goals and four assists, while fellow senior Caleb Tant added five goals and four assists of his own.
Jake Cordes recorded a hat trick and dished out three assists. Liam Prindable and Drew Chiodini each added two goals, while Alex Reyes, Caleb Ward, senior Colin Klahs, and senior Raymond Lingard each found the back of the net once.
Senior goalie Ashton Scott finished with seven saves as the Spartan goalie.
MBU outshot Ottawa 55-21 and controlled the game from start to finish, never trailing at any point. The Spartans outscored the Braves 8-1 in both the first and second quarters, building a commanding 16-2 lead at halftime. Busselman scored three times in the opening quarter, while Lash struck four times in the second.
The Spartans kept their foot on the gas in the second half, tacking on 10 goals in the third quarter and seven more in the fourth to seal the record-setting win.
