DUBUQUE, Iowa – Missouri Baptist University men's lacrosse wrapped up the regular season on a high note Wednesday evening, defeating Clarke University 14-5 on the road.
With the win, the Spartans improve to 6-7 overall and 6-3 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play, heading into the postseason with momentum.
Matthew Lash led the MBU offense with four goals and three assists, leading a balanced Spartan attack.
Caleb Tant, Joe Busselman, Caleb Ward and Jake Cordes each netted two goals, while Drew Chiodini and Colin Klahs added one apiece.
The Spartans outshot Clarke 43-29 and maintained control throughout the second half. Goalkeeper Ashton Scott made 11 saves and allowed just one goal after halftime.
Clarke jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter, but MBU responded with five straight goals, highlighted by a pair from Tant to take a 5-2 advantage.
The Pride scored twice before the break to trim the deficit to 5-4 at halftime.
MBU shut the door in the second half, rattling off nine unanswered goals to cruise to the 14-5 victory.
Up next: The Spartans will compete in the Heart of America Conference Tournament beginning this weekend.
