HANNIBAL, MO. - The No. 15 Missouri Baptist University softball swept a doubleheader at Hannibal-LaGrange University on Tuesday afternoon. The Spartan offense was relentless, scoring nine runs in game one and 13 runs in game two.

Game One Recap
Pitching set the tone for the Spartans throughout the day. Brooklynn Fischer dominated HLGU in game one as she went six innings allowing just one run on two hits while striking out eight batters.Â

Up 3-1 in the top of the fifth, the Spartans offense found their stride. Jenna Achs, Jacie Dees, Fischer, and Ladson all reached base safely to start the inning. Makayla Johnson had a huge hit that scored Ladson and Fischer, aiding the Spartans in their five run inning.

The top of the Spartans order went to work in the first of two games as Achs, Dees, Fischer, and Johnson all had multi-hit games. Missouri Baptist did a great job getting an early lead and continuing to score throughout the game, changing the score in four of the six innings on their way to a 9-1 win over Hannibal-LaGrange.

Game Two Recap
Taylor Whitehead saw what Fischer did in game one, and followed it up with a masterclass of her own. Whitehead also allowed only a pair of hits, but no runs, and struck out seven in her five-inning victory.

With Achs and Dees on base in the first inning, Fischer put the Spartans on top 2-0 with a two-RBI single and increased the lead to three in the third inning with an RBI double that scored Achs again.Â

The Spartans batted around the lineup in the fourth inning on their way to scoring 10 runs on six hits. Madison Leckrone and Bella Skibinski both picked up three-RBI extra-base hits, Leckrone with a triple and Skibinski with a double. Fischer, Skibinski, and Leckrone all tallied three RBIs in game two, giving Whitehead all the run support she could ask for in their 13-0 win.
