FULTON, Mo. – No. 20 Missouri Baptist University baseball claimed its third consecutive American Midwest Conference baseball regular season title, using a four-game sweep of William Woods University to earn a share of the top spot in the conference standings with Columbia College at 31-5.

Game One Recap
The Spartans used a four-run fourth inning and a three-run seventh to back
Greg Ryun's four scoreless innings out of the bullpen and earn an 11-3 win in game one.

Jakob Kouneski got the game going with an RBI single in the first inning, followed by a two-run home run from
Dominic Palma in the second inning. William Woods tied the game in the third inning with three runs, but MBU scored four runs in the top of the fourth, which included a two-run shot from
Cole Robinson.

Lucas Lefebvre piled on an RBI single in the sixth, Kouneski picked up an RBI knock in the top of the seventh, and
Jayden Orozco pushed across two more to make it 11-3.

Ryun worked around a two-out walk in the bottom of the seventh with a 4-3 groundout to finish up four scoreless innings and pick up his first win of the season. In total, the Victoria, Minn., native struck out five Owls, allowed no hits, and walked two batters.

Game Two Recap
James Jett,
Blayne Yarger,
Jayden Orozco, and Kouneski all hit home runs in game two to power a 19-7 blowout victory. MBU scored in every inning but one and received three RBI from
Tyson Ludwig, Kouneski, and Palma.

MBU fell behind 4-2 after two innings before busting out for four in the third behind two-run bombs from Jett and Orozco. They added one in the fourth inning before Yarger hit another two-run home run for the Spartans in a four-run fifth.

In the sixth,
Carlos Hidalgo drove in a run with a double, Ludwig hit a sacrifice fly, and Palma plated a run with a single. MBU wrapped things up with a five-run seventh which included yet another two-run shot from Kouneski.

Jackson Wells picked up his first win of 2025 after hurling a scoreless fourth inning with one strikeout.
JD Whitter and
Zach Peters combined to close out the final 2.2 innings without giving up a run while striking out five.
