Jacksonville, Ill. — Select members of Missouri Baptist University Men's and Women's Track and Field traveled to Illinois College on Friday (April 4), where they displayed an excellent showing of speed and endurance at the True Blue Invite.
Junior Josiah Heras hit a personal record in the 400 m with a time of 50.58 (prev. 50.60), finishing in second place out of twenty-six.Â
Wyatt Claiborne, a freshman out of Warrenton, Mo., also hit two personal records at the meet. He finished third in both the 800 and 1500 meters. He ran a 1:59.79 in the 800 m (prev. 2:02.77) and a 4:09.06 in the 1500 m (prev. 4:10.94).
Having ran in the 1500 m just last week at the the Miner Invitational, Grant Patten was prepared for the race, finishing in fourth place out of 35 with a time of 4:09.33.Â
On the women's side, Mia Duncan, Adrienne Rockette, and Julia Whorton shined in the 1500 m.Â
With a time of 4:49.34, Duncan finished in first place out of 28. Rockette followed close behind in second place, recording a 4:55.12 time. Whorton also performed well, placing sixth (5:10.38).Â
The Spartans are set to compete again on Friday (April 11) at the UCM Mule Invite and Saturday (April 12) at the SIUE Cougar Classic.
