Women's XC Receives Votes in Latest NAIA Top 25 Ratings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Baptist Women's Cross Country team is gaining national recognition, receiving votes in the latest NAIA Women's Cross Country Top 25 Ratings after being left out of the previous poll.

The recognition comes on the heels of an impressive showing at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival this past weekend. After battling injuries to open the season, the Spartans are beginning to find their stride as they build momentum heading into the latter half of the season.

Julia Whorton has led the way for MBU in the 5K this season, posting the team's fastest time of 18:31.3. Freshman Kailey Lawrence has also put together a strong debut campaign, recently clocking a personal-best 19:05.9 at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. Sophomore Alyssa Collins continues to make strides in her second season, recording a personal-best 19:32.8 in the 5K at the team's most recent meet.

Adding to the team's growing momentum is the return of First Team All-Conference performer Isabella Aimonette, who continues to regain her form after battling an injury. Her progression provides another encouraging sign for a Spartan squad looking to reach its full potential as the postseason approaches.

The Spartans return to action next Friday at the Bradley Pink Classic in Hillsboro, Illinois.
