The women's cross country team received votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 preseason poll to kick off the 2026 season. The recognition comes after a strong inaugural season in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Taylor (Ind.) claimed the top spot in the preseason poll, followed by Milligan (Tenn.) and Dordt (Iowa).

Sophomore Isabella Aimonette looks to build on an impressive freshman campaign that saw her earn NAIA All-American honors and Heart All-Conference First Team recognition. Aimonette recorded a personal-best 6K time of 21:34.0 last season.

The Spartans also return conference scorers Julia Whorton, who posted a 22:16.5 6K, and Alyssa Collins, who finished with a 23:24.2 personal best. Newcomers Apple Eddy, Kailey Lawrence, and Jenna Schnipper will look to make an immediate impact early in their Spartan careers.

In the Heart of America Conference preseason coaches' poll, the Spartans are projected to finish third, matching their finish from last season.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams will open the 2026 season on Friday, September 4, at the UIS Prairie Stars Invite.
