DAVENPORT, IOWA — Missouri Baptist University women's lacrosse opened conference play dominantly Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 19-4 victory over St. Ambrose University.
The Spartans (6-4, 1-0) controlled the game from the opening draw, jumping out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. Missouri Baptist outshot St. Ambrose 48-16 and held a commanding 16-8 edge in draw controls.
Madison Terrell led the way with six goals and one assist, while Skyler Morrissey added four goals and three assists in a seven-point performance. Delaney Pechnik contributed three goals and an assist, and Sophia Rose finished with two goals as multiple Spartans found the back of the net.
Missouri Baptist's offense surged in the second quarter, scoring seven goals to take an 11-2 lead into halftime. The Spartans continued to build separation in the second half, adding three goals in the third and five more in the fourth to seal the win.
Defensively, Missouri Baptist limited St. Ambrose to just four goals and forced inefficient shooting, while also winning the ground ball battle 17-12. Goalkeeper Rachel Livak earned the win with five saves over three quarters of action. Octavia Bookman made an appearance in the fourth, adding a save.
The Spartans capitalized on free-position opportunities, converting 4-of-7 attempts, and maintained strong clearing efficiency at 15-of-17.
Missouri Baptist will look to carry the momentum into conference play next week. They will host the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Tuesday, April 2nd. Faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
