COLUMBIA, Ky. – The second-seeded Missouri Baptist University softball fell 6-4 in nine innings to third-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University on Monday, May 11.

Starting pitcher
Brooklynn Fischer cruised through a pair of scoreless innings to open the contest and was backed by an RBI single from
Kaylie Brake in the bottom of the second.
Indiana Wesleyan responded with three runs on three hits in the top of the third. A pair of walks and an RBI single from Morgan Yeater tied the game, followed by an RBI fielder's choice from Maddie Martin and an RBI single from Leah May.
The Wildcats added another in the top of the fourth, but
Allison Leigraf struck back with a two-out, two-run home run to cut the lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth.
Leigraf continued the heroics in the seventh. With MBU down to its final strike, the third baseman from St. Louis clubbed the 2-2 offering over the left field wall to tie the game at four to force extra innings.
A scoreless eighth was followed by RBI singles from Yeater and Martin in the ninth. The Spartans brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom half of the ninth with two outs before the game ended with a 6-4 final on a groundout.
Avery Toole picked up the complete game win for Indiana Wesleyan with nine innings of work, two earned runs, and four strikeouts.
Fischer went 2.1 innings for the Spartans with a trio of strikeouts and two earned.
Kaylie Brake took the loss in relief after 6.2 innings, three earned runs, and a strikeout.
