For the second time this season, the Missouri Baptist University men's volleyball team swept Moody Bible Institute on Saturday. Before the match, the Spartans honored the accomplishments of three seniors: Jamaal Ferguson, Mike Walsh, and Brian Boswell.
MBI took an early 4-1 lead in game one. A kill by Ferguson tied the score at 6-6. The Spartans then went on a 9-3 run to take a 15-9 advantage. An ace from freshman Chris Lynch made the score 27-15. MBU would go on to take game one 30-15.
The Spartans opened game two on a 10-5 run. A powerful cross-court kill from Ferguson gave MBU a seven-point lead, 13-6. Trailing by five, 14-9, Moody Bible called a timeout. The Spartans responded with a 6-2 run to go up 20-11. Boswell sealed the victory for MBU with a kill, 30-17
Like game one, Moody Bible jumped out to a 4-1 advantage in game three. MBU answered with a 5-1 run to take a 6-5 lead. After an MBI timeout, the Spartans went on a 9-1 run to take a 21-10 lead and cruised to a 30-15 win.
With the victory, the Spartans improve to 11-18 overall, and 6-3 in the MAMVIC. MBU will travel to Chicago, Illinois on Friday, April 3rd for the MAMVIC East Conference Tournament.
