Box Score 4 The MBU softball team opened the 2010 campaign this weekend, traveling to Batesville, Arkansas to compete in the Lyon College Tournament. The Lady Spartans walked away with just one win on the weekend.
That win came in the first game of the season, when the Lady Spartans faced Kansas Wesleyan University on Friday. MBU senior
Jessica Robinson pitched all seven innings, striking out 12, for the 12-4 victory. Leading the way at the plate for MBU were
Stacey Launius (3-for-3, 1 run, 2 doubles), and
Megan Wildhaber (2-for-4, 3 runs, 3 RBI, 1 double, 1 HR). Wildhaber slugged the first homerun of the year for the Lady Spartans.
Lyon College handed MBU its first loss of the season later in the day, winning 9-1 in 6 innings.
Jennifer Kemp and
Megan Bote pitched for the loss. The Lady Spartans notched just 5 hits.
Natalie Aubuchon scored the lone run, driven in by
Jenna Bentlage.
On Saturday, the Lady Spartans dropped two games, losing to Southern Nazarene University 6-15 in the first game of the day, and losing to Central Baptist College 1-11 to close out the tournament.
Missouri Baptist will be on the road once again, as they face Union College for a 4:00 double header on Friday, and Lambuth University for a noon double header on Saturday.
