ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Missouri Baptist moved to an NAIA-best, 20-0 on Thursday with a three-game sweep over American Midwest Conference opponent Harris Stowe State University on the road.
Missouri Baptist (20-0, 9-0 AMC) looked very good again as the team traveled down I-64 to play the Hornets. The Spartans controlled play from beginning to end as Laura King along with the combined efforts of Tina Debarry and Bridget Laughlin led the team.
After Missouri Baptist jumped-out to a quick 1-0 set lead, Harris Stowe seemed to rally and played a fantastic second game. Hornet setter Courtney Kleffer recorded eight assists in the set, but the undefeated Spartans refused to let-up. MBU's Laura King posted 17 assists in the set to lead her team past Harris Stowe 25-20.
The third set was a different story from the second. Missouri Baptist controlled the speed of play, as the team was led by Cassie Nesbit to finish the game and the match.
The Spartans will turn-around tomorrow and host Hannibal LaGrange at the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
