Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist softball team was finally able to play a home game at MBU, but it did not turn out the way they would have liked. The visiting Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans took two games from MBU by the scores of 1-0 in game one and 3-1 in game two.
In game one, neither team could get any offensive going. MBU starting pitcher Jena Trombley had a no-hitting going in the sixth inning when the Trojans got their first hit of the game. The game was scoreless entering the seventh inning when the Trojans Kachina Hudson hammered a first pitch home run deep over the left field fence and win the game over MBU 1-0. Trombley threw a complete game and only gave up two hits and struck out one.
Hudson, who was the Trojans starting pitcher, set the tone of the day early. Hudson threw a complete game and only allowed four MBU hits in game one. She then followed up her great performance in the first game, by pitching another complete game in game two.
The Trojans scored one in the first and one in the second to take and early lead in the second game of the day. In the fifth inning MBU's Jenna Bentlage hit a double to right center and scored Corey Pitchford and cut the lead to 2-1. The Trojans would get a run right back in the bottom of the inning on a wild pitch from the starting pitcher Courtney Washington. The Trojans went on to win game two 3-1.
