SPARTANS SPLIT PAIR AT GREENVILLE

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Missouri Baptist softball team split a pair of games against the Greenville College Panthers. The Spartans won game one 5-2 and lost game two 3-2 in eight innings.

In game one, the Spartans controlled the game from the start. MBU scored one run in the third and one in the fourth before busting the game wide open with a three run sixth inning. The Spartans had four different players all with an RBI in the game. Megan Wildhaber went 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Starting pitcher Jena Trombley threw a complete game giving up two runs while recording nine strikeouts.

The Spartan bats were quite in game two. MBU scored one in the top of the fourth and the Panthers answered with a run right back in the bottom of the inning. The game would go to extras and MBU scored one in the top of the eighth but gave up two runs in the bottom of the eighth to lose the game 3-2 to the Panthers.

After the games Missouri Baptist moves to 16-12 on the season and stays at 7-7 in the American Midwest Conference. The Spartans look to continue the winning ways tomorrow as they host St. Mary of the Woods at MBU. First pitch in the doubleheader is set for 12 p.m.
