ST. LOUIS- The Missouri Baptist softball team qualified as one of the eight teams for the AMC tournament set for this weekend. The No. 6 seed Spartans will travel to take on No. 3 seed Columbia College in a doubleheader beginning at 2 pm tomorrow.
Missouri Baptist split with the Cougars during the regular season, shutting out Columbia College, 4-0 in game one, while dropping game two, 13-1. The Spartans went 11-8 in AMC play this season, 22-13 overall. The Cougars finished 14-4 in conference play and a 19-16 overall record.
Williams Baptist (36-4) earned the top seed in the tournament and will host No. 8 seed Harris-Stowe (8-27) in a best-of-three series. No. 2 Park (26-6) hosts No. 7 Lyon (11-37), and No. 4 William Woods (19-13) hosts Hannibal-LaGrange (16-16).
The remaining four teams will be reseeded and play a double-elimination tournament at Columbia College beginning on Thursday, May 2.
The Spartans lost in three games in the AMC tournament quarterfinals last season to Columbia College.
