SPARTANS GET SWEPT IN COLUMBIA

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri Baptist softball team lost their first two games in the American Midwest Conference Tournament against the third seeded Columbia Cougars. The Spartans dropped game one 3-1 and lost game two 7-2.

In the first game, the Cougars jumped ahead early with a run in the first inning. The Spartans were held scoreless until the fifth inning when Megan Wildhaber singled and later came around to score the only MBU run of the game. Sierra Thompson and Corey Pitchford each recorded two hits in the game.

Game two looked just like the first with Columbia scoring one run in the first inning, but MBU would answer with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. However, this would be the only two runs the Spartans would score in the game. The Cougars scored three runs in the top of the second and were not done there. They added one run in the third, fourth and sixth innings to take the game.

Danielle Bayer was the only MBU player with two hits in the game. Bayer also had one of the two RBI in the game.

The Spartans end their season with a 21-13 record overall and a 10-8 record in the AMC.
