SPARTANS SNAP PIRATES WIN STREAK IN SWEEP

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist women's volleyball team snapped Park University's (Mo.) 37 home game win streak in a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-19) sweep at the Breckon Sports Center on Thursday.

Set one was a back and forth battle for control, as the score tipped one way and then another. The Spartans tipped the scale at just the right moment, however, and took the set 25-22. Both Missouri Baptist and Park Universities notched their highest hitting percentages in the set with only a 0.049 difference.

The Pirates took an early lead in set two, but the Spartans charged back. After long rallies and momentum shifts, MBU took set two 25-23. As Missouri Baptist began to gain more control of the match, the team held the Pirates below a 0.100 hitting percentage.

The Spartans remained largely in control through set three but not without a fight from the Pirates as they trailed closely behind. MBU held Park to their lowest hitting percentage of the match at zero and closed the set 25-19.

Hannah Carey led the Spartans on the night with 12 kills. The right side only recorded two errors on 21 swings for a hitting percentage of 0.476.

Mallory Dillon and Taylor Cook followed right behind with 10 kills apiece. Dillon also recorded a double-double on the night with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Ally Krus also recorded a double-double on the night. The setter posted 35 total assists and 11 digs. The St. Louis native held for 11.67 assists per set.

Libero Haley Pouliezos recorded a total of 14 digs on the night for an average of 4.67 digs per set.

With the win, MBU evened the score to 4-4 in playing at Breckon Sports Center and advanced their lead to 9-6 in the rivalry. Missouri Baptist also snapped the five game win streak that Park University held against the Spartans.

Missouri Baptist will close the regular season out with one last match against American Midwest Conference opponent Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) on Nov. 3.
