ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist women's basketball led at the half, but struggled to keep Harris Stowe's Mia Wesley off the board in the final 20 minutes in a 65-53 loss on the road.
Missouri Baptist (6-17, 6-13 AMC) looked good in the first half and carried a 35-29 lead into the break. Harris Stowe, however, played solid defensively in the final half and grabbed the win away from the Spartans.
After a strong offensive half, Missouri Baptist struggled in the final half of play. The Spartans managed just 18 points in the second half.
Mia Wesley was outstanding for the Hornets in the contest, especially in the second half. She posted 20 points in the final 20 minutes of play on the way to a 31-point night.
Taylor Klingelhoefer and Morgan Settle led Missouri Baptist in the game. Klingelhoefer posted 15 points while Settle secured 10 of her own.
Missouri Baptist will try to get back on the winning track on Tuesday in a road contest against St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
