Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ST. LOUIS – [Game One Box] [Game Two Box] It took complete games from both Jena Trombley and Andrea Chessor to earn two victories, as the Spartans swept the doubleheader over Culver-Stockton. Missouri Baptist won game one 4-2, while taking game two 5-2.

Missouri Baptist (16-8) had to come from behind in both contests against Culver-Stockton (10-18).

In game one, senior Jena Trombley pitched extremely efficient. She improved to 5-2 after tossing her fifth complete game of the season. Trombley gave up just two earned runs on seven hits, while striking out three batters.

Junior catcher Payton Anderson poked two hits in three at-bats. She roped a double and had an RBI in the contest.

Dee Dee Peters and Andrea Chessor had the remaining two doubles.

Missouri Baptist struck first with a run in the second. Torrence cracked a one-out double that burned the left fielder. Pochon moved Torrence to third with a groundout and Kelsey Snider plated Torrence with a single through the 5-6 hole.

Culver-Stockton took a 2-1 lead with two runs in the third on four hits off of Trombley.

The Spartans answered with three runs on three hits and two Wildcat errors in the bottom of the 3rd. Corey Pitchford reached on a two-out, two-base error. She moved to third on a wild pitch and would easily score when Anderson ripped a double to left-center. Chessor followed with a double to deep right-center, which plated Anderson. MBU poked back-to-back-to-back doubles when Torrence lined her second double of the game, which scored Chessor. The Spartans led 4-2 after three innings.

Trombley allowed just two hits over the final four innings of work. In the 7th, the Wildcats had the tying run at the plate, but a double play started by Pochon erased any chance at a comeback. Pochon fired to Chessor for the first out. Chessor then fired a missile to third baseman Mariah Randazzo for the second out of the inning. Pochon recorded the third out when she snagged a line drive out of the air for the final out of the game.

Game two began with drama in the first frame. Culver-Stockton led off the game with runners on second and third with one out, but starter Andrea Chessor induced a groundout and an inning-ending strikeout to keep the Wildcats off the board.

In the bottom of the 1st, Payton Anderson lined a two-out solo blast to right-center to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead. It was Anderson's eighth long ball of the season and the most by a Spartan since Lauren Scovill hit seven home runs in 2011.

Culver-Stockton took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd on a two-run home run to left. Chessor picked-up a groundout and a strikeout to begin the inning, but a walk set up the home run.

The Spartans tied the game with one run in the bottom of the 3rd. Mariah Randazzo led off the inning with a double down the right field line. She would move to third on a passed ball and would score on a two-out single up the middle off the bat of Payton Anderson.

Missouri Baptist took the lead for good when they plated three runs on three hits in the 5th. Lexi Gray led off the inning with a single to right. Darrian Chrzanoski came in as a pinch-runner and moved to second on a sac bunt by Randazzo. Pinch-hitter Donyelle DeMarse drew a four-pitch walk and quickly exited as Dee Dee Peters reentered the game. Both Chrzanoski and Peters would score when Corey Pitchford crushed a double to deep right-center. Chessor added an insurance run when she scored Pitchford with a single through the hole at short. MBU led 5-2 after five innings.

In the 7th, the Wildcats threatened with a leadoff single. After a double down the left field line potentially put runners on second and third, Torrence grabbed the ball and fired to Sierra Thompson for the first out of the inning. Chessor was able to get the final two outs of the game without allowing a run and the Spartans won the game, 5-2.

Chessor improved to 5-4 with the complete game victory. She gave up two earned runs on seven hits. Chessor walked just one batter and struck out seven Wildcats.

Missouri Baptist added two more doubles in the game.
