Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS – [Game One Box] [Game Two Box] The Missouri Baptist softball team improved to 12-4 in road games after sweeping Benedictine-Springfield on Saturday, 7-5 and 11-0. The Spartans are 22-10 on the season and 13-5 in American Midwest Conference play.
In game one, Missouri Baptist scored in four of the seven innings, en route to a 7-5 victory. Sophomore Andrea Chessor earned the complete game victory after tossing 7.0 innings. She gave up five earned runs on eight hits, and struck out four batters.
Junior catcher Payton Anderson led the Spartans at the plate, posting four hits in four at-bats. She scored three times, drove in five RBI, homered twice, and doubled once.
Chessor added an impressive stick offensively. She went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while doubling once.
On the bases, Darrian Chrzanoski and Kelsey Snider each stole a base.
In game two, the Spartans made quick work of the Bulldogs, winning the contest 11-0 in five innings.
Missouri Baptist scored four in the first and seven runs in the second inning.
Freshman Madison Calvert started the game and went 4.0 innings. She struck out two batters and gave up just two hits. Freshman Nicole Hughes combined for the shutout, as she tossed 1.0 innings of shutout ball.
Mariah Randazzo led MBU at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run scored, and a stolen base.
Payton Anderson poked two hits in two at-bats. She scored twice, drove in an RBI, and doubled once.
Mikala Torrence went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and two RBI.
Chessor added two hits in three at-bats and scored twice.
The Spartans have continued to stay in fourth place in the AMC standings, but face a massive doubleheader tomorrow evening, as they travel to Lindenwood-Belleville. The Lynx are 17-5 in AMC play and hold the top spot in the standings. MBU will end the AMC season with a doubleheader against William Woods and Stephens later this week.
