Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS – The American Midwest Conference office announced that Payton Anderson has been named the softball Player of the Week.
Anderson, a junior catcher from Gillespie, Ill., was absolutely outstanding for the Spartans during the six-game week. She slugged 1.158 over 19 at-bats, and posted an eye-popping .632 batting average (12-for-19). She scored four times, roped four doubles, two home runs, and drove in nine RBI. She added three walks, one intentional walk, and a sac fly, while posting a .667 OBP.
Anderson caught all six games and tallied 16 putouts and four assists, with no errors. She reached base in all six games.
Against William Woods, she went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run, and drove in two RBI. In game one against Stephens, she went 4-for-4, with three RBI and two RBI. Her two home runs bumped her up to a tie at No. 1 in the AMC with 12 home runs on the season.
For the season, she is hitting an outstanding .466, roping 54 hits in 116 at-bats. She has scored 31 times, smacked 13 doubles, a school-record 12 home runs, and driven in 46 RBI. She owns a .888 slugging percentage, and a .543 on-base percentage.
