SPARTANS FINISH EAGLES IN THREE

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist women's volleyball finished the week with another sweep of conference opponent Williams Baptist on Saturday afternoon, 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-14). 

Kristina Medanovic struck first blood and notched the first point for the Spartans (17-1, 5-0). Williams Baptist trailed just behind MBU. Missouri Baptist rattled-off a 6-3 run, started and ended by Taylor Cook, to close out the set.

Hannah Carey held for a perfect set with three kills off of three attempts and no errors for a 1.000 hitting percentage. The right side hitter also contributed two digs and one service ace. Mallory Dillon continued her strong play from the outside with six kills. Ally Krus led the offense with 14 assists.

MBU had hit its stride in game two and notched 18 kills as a team and bettered its hitting percentage by 0.061. Carey continued her strong attack from the right side and added six kills and still no errors for a hitting percentage of 0.600.  Krus expertly fed the offense and notched 15 assists in the set.

Missouri Baptist continued to hold the advantage and held the Eagles to their lowest hitting percentage of the match at zero, while it posted its highest percentage of 0.467. Carey, again with no errors, recorded six kills in the set. Right behind the 6-1 right side, Cook and Marion Couraud continued to find the floor for the Spartans notching four kills apiece. Krus connected with her hitters for yet another impressive 14 assists in the set. Haley Pouliezos picked up 12 digs in the final set of the day.

Carey led MBU with 15 kills, no errors off of 21 total attempts for an outstanding hitting percentage of 0.714. Cook was right behing her and contributed 11 kills of her own.

Krus dealt the ball out to the offense for a total of 43 assists for 14.3 assists per game. Pouliezos led the defense with 22 digs in the match for 7.33 digs per set.

The Spartans will return home to play two more conference games at home next week.Join MBU women's volleyball in raising money for Thyroid Caner Awareness on Wednesday, Sept. 30 when the team faces St. Louis College of Pharmacy.Following that game, Missouri Baptist will play Lindenwood University – Bellevile on Thursday, Oct. 1 in the first Blue Out game of the fall semester.
