BIG OFFENSE LEADS SPARTANS TO VICTORY

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist women's volleyball team notched another win Wednesday evening against Bethel University (Tenn.) in a 3-- decision on the road.

The Spartans (10-1, 0-0) started off hot and kept Haley Pouliezos at the service line for five straight points. MBU built a 10 point advantage thanks, in large part, to the powerful play of Kristina Medanovic. The middle blocker put-up a three point run for Missouri Baptist after two kills and a block.

MBU closed out the set off the hand of Hannah Carey and held the Wildcats to a -0.036 hitting percentage throughout the game.

The Wildcats were up early in the second set, but with a kill and an ace from Carey the Spartans quickly regained their composure. Medonavic tied the score with a kill, but Bethel rattled-off a nine point run to increase its lead.

Missouri Baptist was able to capitalize off of a Bethel attack error, but came just two points short in the second game.

The Spartans turned the page in set three and opened things up with a kill from Mallory Dillon. Missouri Baptist found its rhythm again and closed out the third set off the hand of Logan Mennemeyer.

MBU notched its first point of the fourth game off of the double block of Hailey Townsend and Natalie Gremaud.

The Wildcats kept the game close and managed to hold a one point lead for a brief stint before another solid block from Townsend and Carey erased the lead. Though Bethel remained close, the Wildcats fell short as MBU's Taylor Cook put the final nail in the coffin for the 3-1(25-12, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21) win.

Carey led Missouri Baptist with 18 kills. Outsides Dillon and Cook trailed with 17 and 12 kills respectively. Pouliezos posted a total of 32 digs on the night for an average of eight digs per set.

Setters Ally Krus and Gremaud set up the offense on the night. Krus recorded 30 assists for an average of 15 assists per set. Gremaud followed in The senior's footsteps with 26 assists and averaged 13 assists per set.

Missouri Baptist will have the rest of the week off before traveling to Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) on Monday, Sept. 14.
