Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS – [GAME 1 BOX SCORE] [GAME 2 BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist offense scored 15 runs on Day 3 of its Spring Break trip, leading it to back-to-back wins over Indiana Tech and St. Ambrose.
The Spartans used a six-run fourth inning to top Indiana Tech in game one, 6-4. The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and the lead stood until MBU scored six times on six hits in the fourth. Andrea Chessor started the rally with a single, Amanda Williams doubled and Payton Anderson brought them both home with a 2-RBI double to give the Spartans the lead.
Pamela Diaz continued the hit parade with a single to increase the lead to 3-1. Deanna Peters brought home Diaz two batters later with an RBI single and Chloe Jennings brought home the fifth run after grounding into a fielder's choice. Rachel Garcia knocked in the sixth and final run with a 2-out RBI single to plate Jennings.
Indiana Tech put up three runs in the final two innings to create a slight scare, but Cierra Liddick kept her composure on the mound. The righty allowed just seven hits and three earned runs in seven innings of work. She also recorded six strikeouts.
MBU followed a very familiar script in its 9-3 win over St. Ambrose in game two. Just like earlier in the day, the team scored six runs in the fourth inning on six hits. This time however, the Bees jumped out to a 3-1 lead after three innings.
All six runs in the fourth inning came with two outs. Jenny Sparks started the rally after being hit by a pitch. Then Jennings singled and Garcia brought them both home with a 2-RBI double. Chessor followed with an RBI double to plate Garcia and tie the game at 3-3. Diaz was then hit by a pitch later in the inning with the bases loaded to give MBU the lead and the final two runs in the inning scored on a 2-RBI single from Elder.
The Spartans padded to their lead in the fifth when Williams doubled home two runs, while Chessor held the Bees scoreless in the final four innings to pick up the win. Overall, she tossed seven innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs. Offensively, Williams went 6-8 for the day to continue her fantastic season. Elder also went 3-3 in game two with three RBI's.
