Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS – [CONCORDIA BOX SCORE] [TEXAS WESLEYAN BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist Softball team tacked on two more wins in day four of its Florida trip to bump its winning streak up to four games. The Spartans defeated Concordia (Mich.) 3-0 for their first win in three chances against the Cardinals and then turned around and topped Texas Wesleyan 5-1.
Cierra Liddick scattered seven hits in seven innings to shutout Concordia in game one. She did so while striking out five batters and walking just two. Amanda Williams singled home Chloe Jennings in the first inning to put MBU on the board and it proved to be all Liddick would need.
The Spartans also added runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pad their lead. Jennings put MBU up 2-0 with an RBI single in the fifth to score Pamela Diaz and Meagan Elder gave MBU its third and final run the next inning with an RBI base hit.
MBU carried that momentum over into a 5-1 win over Texas Wesleyan in game two. The Spartans used a four-run second inning to notch their fourth straight win, while only allowing one run.
Diaz ripped an RBI single to start the scoring and both Diaz and Payton Anderson later came around to score via a TWU error to extend the lead to 3-0. Jennings put the Spartans ahead 4-0 with an RBI single to plate Deanna Peters who also reached on an error. In total, the Spartans tallied four runs on three hits while also taking advantage of three Texas Wesleyan errors in the inning.
The offensive output proved plenty for Shelby Poropat who got the start on the mound. She allowed just one earned run in seven innings while also striking out five batters. She would help herself out in the fourth by recording an RBI single to give herself an additional insurance run.
In the fifth and final day of the Spring Break trip, the Spartans fell to Concordia (Mich.) 4-0 and defeated Northwestern Ohio 6-2.
