ST. LOUIS – [BOX GAME 1] [BOX GAME 2] Freed-Hardeman jumped out to an early in both games Saturday to sweep Missouri Baptist. The Lions extended their win streak to four games with 9-1 and 5-2 wins.

A five-run first inning helped Freed set the tone in game one. An error allowed the leadoff batter to reach, followed by five total hits in the inning. Kaylyn Graham hit a bases-clearing double to put the Lions in front early 3-0. The Lions would lead by five before all was said and done. Freed went with the same recipe in the fourth, this time scoring three times on three hits to push their lead to 8-0.

Meghan Mollett, Rachel Galbraith and Andrea Chessor all singled in the fifth to help MBU get on the board. Mollett eventually scored on an RBI groundout from Caitlin McNiff to make the score 8-1.

Three of the Spartans four hits came in that inning. Meagan Elder picked up the other. Mackenzie Prince recorded the win for FHU after tossing all six innings. Chessor took the loss.

Game two was a tighter contest, will the Lions pulling out a 5-2 win. MBU fought back after trailing 3-0 early with two runs in the fourth. Jordan Corby walked to start the rally and Galbraith followed with a single. Chessor doubled with one away to plate Corby and get MBU on the board. With two outs, Mollett singled home Galbraith and the score stood at 3-2.

The Lions got one of the runs back in the bottom half and maintained the lead throughout. Mallory Spurlock picked up the win after allowing two runs and four hits in seven innings. Delissa Dennison scattered 16 hits in six innings while allowing five runs. She worked out of trouble all day, stranding 11 runners on base.

The Spartans will look to get back to their winning ways on Monday against Central Baptist. First pitch from Spartan Field is set for 2pm.
