ST. LOUIS – Winners in eight of its last nine contests, the Missouri Baptist Women's Lacrosse team is peaking at the right time entering the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship set to commence this weekend. With just one loss in conference sitting at 8-2, 7-1 KCAC, the Spartans were selected as the tournament's No. 3 overall seed and will host sixth-seeded Missouri Valley College on Saturday at 5 p.m.
In MBU's eight wins this season, the Spartans have won decisively with margin of victory of more than 10 goals. One of the six wins of 10 or more came against Missouri Valley in Marshall, Mo. In the March 20 meeting, junior
Jordan Haeusser had a banner day recording a career-high 11 points as she tied her career-best marks in goals (7) and assists (4). Defeating the Vikings 19-9, Missouri Baptist improved to 5-1 and matched the best start in program history.
With a victory on Saturday, the Spartans would advance to the semifinals to meet the winner of No. 2-seed St. Ambrose University and No. 7-seed Midland University. Semfinal and championship matches will be played on April 22 & 24 on the campus of Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan.
