Elsah, Ill.- Missouri Baptist University men's track and field competed in the two day Principia College Relay's this weekend (Jan. 27-28). The Spartans were able to secure three individual titles and multiple top 10 finishes throughout the course of the meet.
The men's heptathlon kept junior,
Camden Woolbright busy as the event spanned both days of the meet. The Centralia, IL native really shined this meet as he placed first in three of the seven events along with five new personal records all adding up towards his first place finish. Woolbright earned first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.33 (new PR), first in long jump with a distance of 6.41 meters (new PR), and first in pole vault with a height of 4.00 meters (new PR). He took second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.84 and fourth in both the high jump with a height of 1.83m (new PR) and 1000m dash with a time of 3.00.03. Woolbright also set a new PR in the shot put with a distance of 9.77m where he placed 7
th. Overall, the junior scored a total of 4633 points, earning gold.
Donovan Denslow was able to secure not one but two first place finishes this go around. He competed in both the 5000m run and the mile setting new PRs in both. Denslow was able to secure gold in the mile with a time of 4:17.23 and in the 5000m run he clocked in at 14:53.52.
In the 5000m run, Wyatt Elliot also made the top five taking fourth place out of 20 with a time of 15:59.46.
Jack Warmann was able to set a new PR in the event with a time of 16:28.88 earning 12
th.
Keon Graham also placed in the top five in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.02, setting a new PR and placing fourth. He had other PRs in the 200m dash as well as the 300m dash with times of 24.32 and 38.25 respectively.
The men's 4x800m relay team made up of
Ethan Bliss,
Aubrey Morris,
Josiah Heras, and
Jack Warmann also took fourth place with a time of 8:41.71.
The Spartans had other top ten finished from
Jordan Walker-Wright and
David Fletcher. Walker-Wright came in seventh in the shot put with a distance of 13.29 while
David Fletcher who participated in the mile came in eight with a time of 4:33.49.
There were also PRs coming from Charlie McCallister and
Grant Shankle. McCallister, who also participated in the Mile, earned a new PR of 4:59.60. Shankle who participated in the weight throw set a new PR with a distance of 12.36m
The Spartans will be taking on the Illinois College Jim Green Invite next this coming weekend (Feb. 4) in Jacksonville, Ill.
