Spartans Go the Distance in Iowa

ST. LOUIS- Missouri Baptist Track & Field sent off three runners to Iowa to take on two separate meets. Mia Reed was the lone Spartan to participate in the prestigious Drake University Relays. Isabel Rinkenberger and Donovan Denslow headed their own direction to participate in the Simpson College Kip Janvrin Open.

Facing off against 32 other top athletes in the country, Mia Reed placed 22nd in the 3000-meter steeplechase. The sophomore was able to make her way under that 11-minute mark and clock in a new personal record of 10:55.21.

Heading over to a different part of Iowa, Rinkenberger represented the Spartans in the 1500-meter run. Rinkenberger had numerous opponents this go around, running against 102 other athletes. The sophomore made her way into the top third, placing 36th with a time of 4:50.53. With that, Rinkenberger was able to set a new personal record.

Denslow joined Rinkenberger at the Kip Janvrin Open, competing in the 5000-meter run. The junior secured fourth place out of 113 runners. With a time of 14:37.55, Denslow was a step away from making it into the top three and less than ten seconds behind the first-place finisher.

Next up, Spartan Track & Field will be taking on the AMC Outdoor Track & Field Championships that will be happening next week (May 4-5) at Spartan Field.
