JOLIETE, Ill.- With a small crew of Spartans, the Missouri Baptist Track & Field team headed down to Illinois this weekend (May 12-13) to take on the St. Francis Fighting Chance.
Out of the five women's track & field athletes participating, four of those competed in the 800-meter run.
Isabel Rinkenberger found herself in the lead for the team, coming in 16
th out of the 40 runners. With a time of 2:18.42, the sophomore put up her best time yet to secure a new personal best.
Adrienne Rockette wasn't too far behind in 20
th. The freshman also kicked it up a gear to secure a new personal record of 2:21.51. Less than a tenth of a second behind Rockette, was
Mia Reed in 21
st. With a time of 2:21.60 the sophomore was just shy of making it into the top half of the runners.
Maddie Sargent rounded things out for the distance runners in 38
th with a time of 2:29.96, a second shy of beating her own personal record.
Alaina Scott was the only female field athlete representing the Spartans this go around. Scott made her way into the top half of those taking on the pole vault. After easily clearing 3.11 meters, the Sophomore took on a height of 3.26m. After making it over the bar on her second attempt, Scott went for a new personal record at 3.41m but was unsuccessful. With a mark of 3.26
th, the New Haven, Mo. native earned seventh place.
MBU Men's Track & Field also sent a small number of runners.
David Fletcher and
Jack Warmann participated in the 5000-meter run. In his first attempt at the 5000m, Fletcher secured fifth place with a time of 15:55.77. Warmann posted his best time yet in the 5000m, clocking in a new PR of 16:27.97. With this, the graduate student was able to earn 16
th.
Wyatt Elliott was the lone runner for the Spartans in the 10,000m run. Clocking in a time of 32:12.51, the senior was less than ten seconds from his PR. Out of the 20 runners, Elliott earned eighth place.
Mayson DeRousse joined Scott in taking on the Pole Vault. Instead of worrying about what place he was in, DeRousse went straight for the national qualifying mark. Unfortunately the graduate student couldn't make it over the bar to earn his place.
The Spartans will be taking a week off before heading to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on May 24-26.
