ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Missouri Baptist University women's basketball team fell to Grand View University 71–47 on Saturday afternoon, despite keeping the first half very competitive. Eva Parks led the Spartans with 12 points, shooting 50% from the field and a perfect 100% from the free-throw line in just 20 minutes of play.
The Spartans kept things close early, leading 17-12 after the first quarter and holding a 31-34 deficit at halftime. However, Grand View pulled away in the third period and outscored Missouri Baptist 27-16 in the second half to secure the win.
Madisyn Doran added 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including three 3-pointers, while Riley Jansen finished with eight points and two rebounds.
MBU shot 33.3% from the field and turned the ball over 22 times, which led to 13 points for Grand View. The Spartans also struggled from the foul line, shooting 64.3% as a team.
Grand View was led by Anna Gossling's 17 points and Taryn Ottemann's 12 points off the bench.
The Spartans will look to bounce back in their next outing as they continue conference play against the Owls of William Woods University (Mo.) on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 5:30 p.m.
