COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri Baptist University Spartanline competed in the American Midwest Conference Competitive Dance Championship on Friday (March 7), where they placed third out of eight teams with a total score of 75.13.
MBU took the floor first, competing in the preliminaries at 11:00 AM. They received a score of 74.60 for this performance.
Later, Missouri Baptist shined even brighter in the final execution of their dance. They scored a 75.30 this time around.
The total score used to determine a team's standing is composed of 25% of a team's prelim. score and 75% of the team's final score. Therefore, MBU closed the competition with a total score of 75.13.
Of the eight teams in the conference, they were only surpassed by St. Ambrose University and Viterbo University. SAU is ranked first in the nation out of 47 teams in the NAIA, and VU is ranked third.
The Spartanline held their own, outperforming most of the teams with grace, athleticism, and precision.
The AMC also announced All-Conference awards after the final performance. Senior Kiersten Brown earned a First-Team all-conference award, and fellow senior Abbey Mortland earned Second-Team. She also received the Champion of Character award.

They will now begin preparation for the NAIA Competitive Dance National Championship, hosted by Concordia University (Mich.) on Friday (March 28) through Saturday (March 29).
