Cornett's Record-Breaking Performance Wins Conference and National Weekly Awards

ST. LOUIS - On Wednesday (April 9), Lydia Cornett broke the all time NAIA record for the most points scored in a single game against Ottawa University, earning her Heart of America Conference (Wk. 9), Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association, and NAIA Women's Lacrosse, Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The senior captain led her team in a dominant win over Ottawa, clinching MBU's spot in the semifinal game of the Heart of America Conference Tournament.

Cornett scored 11 goals and assisted her teammates six times. She also recorded 13 draw controls, two ground balls, and two caused turn overs.

With this performance, Cornett broke the NAIA record for points recorded in a single game with 17. The record was previously held by Kaylen Moore from Benedictine College with 15 points against St. Ambrose University just the Saturday before (April 5).

This is the first time in the 2025 season that Cornett has been named Offensive Player of the Week by all three organizations.

The Spartans play again on Wednesday (April 16) against Ottawa in the Heart of America semifinals at home on Spartan Field.
