KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Baptist University softball will head to Oklahoma City, Okla., to open the NAIA Opening Round on Monday, May 12, against William Carey University.
The Spartans won the American Midwest Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships, going 44-6 overall and 20-2 in conference. They have won their last 16 games and swept their way through the AMC Tournament with wins over Stephens College, Central Baptist College, and William Woods University.
MBU currently ranks eighth in the NAIA in RBI with 333 and 11
th in runs scored with 356. They were also eighth in the nation with 304 strikeouts and a 6.60 strikeouts per nine innings.
Taylor Whitehead and
Brooklynn Fischer lead the pitching staff, posting a 1.79 ERA and a 2.29 ERA, respectively. Both posted 20 wins, over 140 innings, and over 130 strikeouts. Fischer also has the highest on-base plus slugging on the team with a 1.156, followed by
Jacie Dees (1.097),
Jenna Achs (1.038), and
Camryn Kessler (1.026).
