OLATHE, Kan. – Missouri Baptist University women's basketball fell 78-43 at MidAmerica Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans drop to 7-13 overall and 6-8 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers improve to 17-3 and 13-1 to remain atop the conference standings.
MBU was led by 12 points from
Riley Jansen and a 3-for-3 shooting performance from
Audrey Payne. They shot 30.4 percent from the field (14-46), including 7.1 percent from behind the arc (1-14).
MNU put four players in double-digits and was led by Grace Carlson's 18 points, including 5-7 from three. The Pioneers shot 45.5 percent from the field (25-55) and 41.9 percent from deep (13-31).
The Spartans trailed 18-8 after the first quarter before Grace Carlson piled on in the second quarter, ending the half with a three-pointer with eight seconds left and converted an additional free throw from a shooting foul to push the lead to 42-18 heading into the locker room.
MNU closed the game out in the second half, outscoring the Spartans 36-25. MBU had its best shooting performance of the game in the third quarter, going 5-10 from the field.
