Perini Claims Heart Defender of the Week Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Missouri Baptist junior middle blocker Fernanda Perini has earned her second Heart Defender of the Week honor of the season, as announced earlier today. Perini continued her dominant presence at the net, helping the No. 9 Spartans secure three consecutive sweeps over conference opponents William Woods University, MidAmerica Nazarene University, and Park University.

Perini was a defensive force throughout the week, totaling 16 block assists across nine sets, averaging 1.78 blocks per set. Her strongest defensive performance came against William Woods, where she recorded six blocks. The junior followed that performance with five blocks apiece against MidAmerica Nazarene and Park, playing a key role in the Spartans' defensive success.

Perini also made her presence felt offensively, recording 21 kills while posting a .279 hitting percentage across the three victories. Her contributions on both sides of the net continue to make her a key piece of the Spartans' success this season.

The No. 9 Spartans return to action Thursday as they take on Stephens College, looking to continue their impressive run of conference play.
