ST. LOUIS - Missouri Baptist University women's lacrosse fell to #6 Keiser University, 15-5, on Tuesday evening at Spartan Field.
The Spartans (5-4) fell behind early and were unable to recover, as the Seahawks opened the game with five straight goals in the first quarter and maintained control the rest of the way.
MBU found some offensive rhythm midway through the contest, led by Madison Terrell, who paced the Spartans with two goals and an assist. Delaney Pechnik, Skyler Morrissey, and Alexis Taylor each added a goal, while Marissa Oldham contributed an assist.
After trailing 5-0 at the end of the first quarter, Missouri Baptist got on the board in the second period with a free-position goal from Terrell. Pechnik added another late in the half, but Keiser answered consistently to take a 9-2 lead into the break.
The Spartans continued to battle in the third quarter, with goals from Morrissey and Taylor cutting into the deficit. However, the Seahawks responded with a scoring run of their own to extend the lead to 13-4 heading into the final frame.
In the fourth, Terrell added her second goal of the night, but Keiser closed out the game with the final score to secure the 15-5 result.
Missouri Baptist was outshot 32-21 and trailed in draw controls 13-8, limiting its opportunities to generate consistent offensive pressure.
Rachel Livak recorded eight saves in goal for the Spartans, while Octavia Bookman added two in relief.
Missouri Baptist will look to bounce back this Saturday, March 28, on the road against Saint Ambrose University. Face off is set for 11 a.m.
