ST. LOUIS — Missouri Baptist University women's lacrosse celebrated Senior Night in a dominant fashion Saturday afternoon, earning an 18-6 victory over Culver-Stockton College at Spartan Field.
Before the game, the Spartans honored seniors Skyler Morrissey and Jackie Oehler for their contributions to the program, recognizing their leadership and impact in their final home appearance.
Missouri Baptist (8-5, 3-1) set the tone early, jumping out to a 6-1 lead in the opening quarter and never looking back. The Spartans controlled possession throughout, holding a decisive 18-8 advantage in draw controls and outshooting the Wildcats 45-14.
A balanced offensive effort powered the Spartans, led by Marissa Oldham, who finished with a team-high five goals and one assist. Alexis Taylor and Morrissey each added three goals, while Madison Terrell contributed two goals and a game-high four assists.
Missouri Baptist's fast start proved to be the difference, as the Spartans scored six of the game's first seven goals. The lead grew to 11-4 at halftime and continued to expand in the second half behind efficient scoring and strong defensive play.
The Spartans capitalized on free-position opportunities, converting 4 of 5 attempts, and controlled the ground game with a 17-8 edge in ground balls.
Defensively, Missouri Baptist limited Culver-Stockton's chances and forced 16 turnovers. Goalkeepers Rachel Livak and Octavia Bookman combined for five saves in the win.
MBU returns to action on the road next Saturday, April 18, taking on the Ottawa University Braves. Faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
