MBU Softball Begins Opening Round on May 11 Against Indiana Wesleyan

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – No. 8 Missouri Baptist University softball will open the NAIA Opening Round as the second seed in the Columbia, Ky., bracket and will take on the third-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats.

The Spartans enter the NAIA National Tournament as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions after going 20-5 in conference play and 40-12 overall. They battled to the Heart Tournament Championship, where they fell to Central Methodist University with a 7-5 final.

Allison Leigraf was named Heart Player of the Year after leading the league in home runs (14) and runs batted in (58). Ted Leigraf additionally won Coach of the Year, the team had seven on all-conference teams, and Alohilani Bursey on the Gold Glove team in right field.

The first pitch between MBU and IWU is set for Monday, May 11, at Marilyn D. Sparks Park in Columbia Ky.
