After a tough week in which the MBU men's volleyball team suffered three home losses, the Spartans record drops to 6-7 overall, 2-2 in the MAMVIC. The Spartans played the week without standout senior middle hitter
Matt Mahoney, who is out due to injury. They opened the week against local MAMVIC opponent Lindenwood University on Tuesday. The Lions took the match in four games, winning 32-34,30-20,26-30,20-30.
Jonathan Roldan and Steven Greaves led the Spartans with 12 kills.
Josh Haegele set for 96 assists.
MBU hosted a tri-match on Friday and Saturday. The Spartans faced Clarke College on Friday, followed by MAMVIC foe Park University on Saturday. Clarke and MBU battled for five games on Friday, with Clarke ultimately winning the battle 28-30,30-27,28-30,30-26,13-15. Roldan registered an impressive 34 kills and 12 digs, with Haegele dishing out 68 assists.
The Spartans ran out of steam on Saturday, losing to Park in three games; 21-30,27-30,23-30. Roldan again led the team with 15 kills, and Haegele got 32 assists.
The Spartans will be on the road all of this week for three MAMVIC match-ups. They travel to Hannibal-LaGrange College on Tuesday, Graceland University on Friday, and Park University on Saturday.
