Lebanon, Ill.- The Missouri Baptist women's basketball team headed on the road to McKendree University looking to start the season on the right foot. After grabbing a 44-40 first half lead, the team managed 29 points in the second half falling 80-73.
The team was looking to get a key road win on the season against a tough Bearcat team. The Spartans ended the first half with a four point lead and shot 58.1% from the field, while being 6-10 from three point range. Going into the second half Missouri Baptist wanted to continue its hot shooting.
The shooting however got hot for McKendree in the second half. The Bearcats were able to shoot 53.6% from the field while MBU was only able to shoot 34.5%. The Spartans were able to find their spots behind the arc as they were 5-12. In the end the team made 11 three pointers.
Their were plenty of bright spots for the Spartans as four members of the team ended up in double figures. Leading the way was guard
Lauren Taylor who was 4-7 from three point range and ended up with 22 points on the evening.
Also, having a strong game included
Janelle Hensold with 16 points,
Andrea Seabaugh with 12 and off the bench
Haley Elders contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Missouri Baptist will look to their next game for their first win on the season as they head to Missouri Valley College on November 11th at 7:30 p.m.
