Walnut Ridge, Ark.- The Missouri Baptist women's basketball team headed on the road looking to earn a quality conference win. The team fought hard throughout the game, but fell 64-56 to Williams Baptist College.
Heading into the game, the team wanted to look past the month of December in which the team went 2-5. Early in the first half, both teams went back and forth matching shot for shot. The Spartans were able to grab a 14-12 lead with seven minutes left after a three point field goal made by Lauren Taylor.
Williams Baptist took over the rest of the first half fending off the Spartans, going on a 16-8 run to lead 28-22 at the half.
Missouri Baptist came out in the second half surging out to a 34-33 lead with 15 minutes to go. Each team started to get hot from the floor. The Spartans held off Williams Baptist for the next nine minutes holding a two point lead for most of that time.
The Eagles were able to tie the game at 50-50 lead with five minutes left. Missouri Baptist shooting went cold as WBU went on a 8-0 run and closed out the game with a 14-6 edge winning 64-56.
MBU was led by Janelle Hensold who had 18 points, shooting 8-14 from the floor. Andrea Seabaugh had a strong game with 14 points, as did Lauren Taylor with 11. Kimberly Wise led the Eagles with 13 points.
The Spartans fall to 6-9 on the year, but will look to rebound on the road again against Harris-Stowe State University on January 14th at 2:00 p.m.
